Has our greater access to food made human any healthier from now and a 100 years ago

The food that humans consume today has made us unhealthier than what we were 100 years ago. That being said, we have gotten healthier in the medical field. However, our eating habits and food additives have made us obese and more likely to get diabetes. "Feeding practices, genetic and animal management practices, meat handling, and merchandising practices have been modified to improve production efficiency and to respond to consumers' health concerns about dietary fat and red meat."

"During the 20th century, substantial changes occurred in the food available for consumption in the U.S. food supply. Many of these changes are linked to advances in food production and technology, Federal standards for enrichment and fortification, the Federal dietary guidance system, and changing consumer preferences creating demand for nutritionally improved foods."

Since food has become easier to attain and eat, a great percentage of people would rather choose fast food than buying healthy food in a super market. The reason for that is, buying vegetables, fruits, etc has become a bit more expensive now vs the cheaply made food that contain a high level in fats and calories. This has become a major problem  for the US now reporting that one-third of the US population is obese. Making matters worse, now children can get diabetes which usually adults gotten them but with the cost of chips and beverages, many children couldn't stop consuming it due to ow good it tastes. This is a very disturbing fact about out society. Whats even more disturbing is that 2.8 million people has died for being over weight or obese. This was due to what we consume for an example, McDonald's is one of the leading cause of obesity since food their has become so cheap just as low as a dollar out of your pocket. Some families don't even make dinner at home. Instead they go to fasts foods just to feed their kids with burgers or french fry that contain high levels of trans fat.
